Info needed

I just purchased a leftover 2005 Avalanche and have a question regarding the Radio and Climate Control displays. When the auto headlights come on, or when there turned on manually, the displays should dim. However. when the lights are turned on the Radio and Climate Control display stays bright. If I turn the dimmer thumb wheel down all the dash lights will dim. When I picked up the truck the headlights had to be replaced due to the fact that they were blown out when the dealer jumpstarted the vehicle sometime earlier. Could something have been damaged when it was jumpstarted? Could it just be a fuse? Any and all inf is greatly appreciated.

JUST TO CLEARIFY WHEN YOU USE THE DIMMER WHEEL ALL DASH LIGHTS WILL DIM BUT THE RADIO AND CLIMATE CONTROL WILL NOT

When I use the dimmer wheel, all the lights including the Radio And Climate control dim, Including the Gear selector and the driver information center. It's when I turn on the headlights (Auto or Manual) that the Radio, Climate control, Gear selector and DIC do not dim as they should.

If it works correctly when the ignition is on and the headlamps are off, but the radio and climate control lights go to full bright when you turn on the headlights, I'd say whoever "fixed' it fixed it wrong.

It's never been fixed. The lights in the Radio, Climate control, Gear selector and DIC do not get brighter when the headlights are on, they do not dim as they should.

AFTER LOOKING AT THE WIRE DIAGRAMS ON THIS VEHICLE THE ONLY REASONABLE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS THE BODY CONTROL MODULE.

THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH W/ DIMMER CONTROL WIRES GO STRAIGHT INTO THE BCM, AND THEN THE BCM SENDS OUT THE SIGNAL TO THE RADIO/CLIMATE CONTROLS, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS.

WITH THIS VEHICLE BEING A 2005 HOW MANY MILES ARE ON IT IF IT IS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES THEN FACTORY WARRANTY SHOULD COVER IT

The truck has only 240 miles. I just picked it up on January 27th. Can that BCM bre reprogrammed? I really thank you for the info.

IF THE DEALER DID SCREW UP JUMP STARTING IT, EITHER HOOKED CABLES BACKWARDS OR USED MORE THAN A 12V SORCE THAN MOST LIKELY THEY FRIED A RELAY, DIODE, TRANSISTOR, OR RESISTOR ALL ARE INSIDE THE BCM AND NON REPLACEABLE. BCM MUST BE REPLACED

BUT WITH THAT YEAR AND MILES IT'S COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY OR BY THAT DEALER THAT THAT SCREWED IT UP

Thanks again for the reply. Is the Body Control Modual easy to access? Where is it located? My greatest concern is of the truck being torn apart to repair this problem.

It goes back to the dealer on Monday to replace the left front park/turn assembly. The plastic clip that holds it in snapped when I pressed it in to remove the assembly. I read in one of my manuals that the PCM, BCM and numerous other moduals all store trouble codes that can be retrieved by the dealer. Is this so? Maybe they can tell right away what the problem is by retrieving a code. Thanks for all the info.
