97 Tahoe wiper problem

Another problem with this truck is the wipers seem to be in the wrong home position. When I turn them on, they go down about 2" before they come up. When driving without them on, the wipers are higher and they obstruct your view. Also, the driver side wiper is higher then the passenger side. I took of the wipers and they are on a splined shaft which also has a keyway. The keyway does not allow me to just move to a different tooth. Please help!!

You are going to have to go under the cowl and adjust them. There is adjustment built in the arms.

This truck probably was one of the ones covered by the recall of the wiper motor. My '95 K3500 was also covered, but my wiper motor failed before the recall, so I fixed it myself.

Turns out that if you replace the wiper motor, you have to deal with the wiper linkage. I had to spend an hour or so before I figured out the magic linkage position that would make the wipers park correctly, and wipe correctly.

Apparently whoever replaced the motor in your truck didn't have time to be careful or thorough. So that's up to you now.
