Dealer Flash

Looking to get my computer flashed to accomodate new tires, and different mirrors (have power extendable, want to go back to power folding).

How much do you guys end up paying at the dealer for this? Is there a better option?

Thanks.

it all depends on the dealers. have u tried searching over the net? you can try looking your tires and mirrors there. Junk Yard Locator can give you the idea somehow. :jester:

Yep, your lookin at 70 bucks, but for about another 130 or so you can get the thing tuned and changed for your tires. Check out hte PCMforless link on the side of the forum.

I just send them an email.  Have you guys been getting better mileage after a tune?  Do you think they can program for the mirrors too?

Yes I have gotten a little better mileage, though I have a heavy foot and im sure I would see much better gains if i backed out of it a little. Not sure what you mean about hte mirrors though???? PCM stands for Powertrain control module, meaning driveline only, doubt he can do anything for mirrors (though I dont know anything about them myself) Any questions just email brian he will be very helpful and get back to you quickly.

Well I heard that you have to flash the computer when you change the mirrors...not sure if thats true...I should have the new ones this week so we'll see.

Either way, if I have to pay a dealer $100 to change the speedo, I might as well spend $150 more and get some power and mileage out of it as well.

BCM...body control module is the one of the "other" computers that controls the lights, mirrors, locks, radio, etc.

Usually a TECH II is required to turn on and off body features.

It is a different computer than the ECM...engine control module. The ECM controls the fuel injection, timing, trans shift. This is where the tire size is change to provide the correct speed information for the fuel mixture.
