tranny temp.

You guys that tow heavy with you 4L80E, what do you get as far as tranny temps, any tricks or comments, first time towing with an auto. thanks in advance.

The highest I saw for tranny temp when towing in the summer was 195*.  It took it awhile to get that high and then it more or less stayed there.  By what I've reead, you don't need to get concerned until you reach 250*.

 

Use your tow/haul mode, and if you find the truck is shifting in and out of OD alot, just pull it down into "3".

jd great info since a slightly higher rpm will circulate

more Dexron III through the transmission cooler since the

transmission front pump is driven by the input shaft;

e.g cooler transmission fluid= transmission longevity.
