6.0 MPG?

I am starting to look for a newer truck now and was wondering what the 6.0 in a 2500 HD regular cab with a 5speed manual 4x4 could get for fuel mileage. I found a 2003 with 36000 miles on it. The price is decent considering the 96-99 1/2 tons 4x4's with 150,000+ miles are still going for $10,000. I'm assuming the 6.0 gets about the same as dodge's 5.9? Thanks

A friend of mine had a 1994 Dodge 2WD 1500 extended cab with the 5.9 liter V8. His mileage was about 12 MPG for normal driving, and less than 9 MPG when towing.

 

The 2500HD 4X4 that you are describing should get about 7-12 MPG, depending on how you drive it.

I think you should be in the 10-15 range with that set up. Regular cab is going to be much lighter than my crew cab. And the manual tranny can sometimes get better MPG than an auto, provided you keep you foot out of it

 

Things that will effect your MPG:

 

- tire size

- rear end ratio

- exhaust (aftermarket might get better MPG)

- intake (again, aftermarket might get better MPG)
