Speed is regulated by a resistor usually in air duct for cooling it. When resistor is burnt out only high (wow speed) works. I do not know precisely where the resistor is but it is cheap and easy. You'll be OK.

Cool.. If someone could point in the direction of the resistor, that would be awesome.  Thanks

To our brother countryman in Canada,

I googled and the concept and the word is it is passenger side under dash in the outlet of the blower. A block with a multi wire plug. They say it is 15.00 or so. two screws.

Do you know the part number.. I have called two dealers and gotten two different part numbers. 89018596 and 89018957

Thanks again1

This same problem happened to me this morning. I only get heat on 4 or 5.

I'll have to figure out where this resistor sits so I can swap it out.

Changed the blower motor resistor yesterday... $31.00 Candian, taxes in.. 10 minute job.. Thanks to those who provided advice....

I wonder what this would have cost had I paid someone to do it!!!

Is this the same fix for if you have air blowing out of the vents when the fan is in the off position?

I believe when the Fan is in the off position it puts the vents on fresh air and just let's air in as your going down the road.

I have a question about regulating heat. My temperature setting has like 1/3 for cool/warm and the rest 2/3 of it is really stinking hot. Anybody have any suggestions????

Cheers

For my 2002 Tahoe, the part number was 89018597. The dealer verified. It said was for 99-02 C and K 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks.

EDIT: I found more info on the Pace Auto Parts website. It looks like p/n 97 is for 2002 and prior vehicles, and the 96 block is for 2003 and newer. Check to be sure.
