364cubes Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Anyone have an idea what changes when you order the RPO K-47? Is it just a different filter or does it change the housing?
lowrider Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 My understanding is that it's just a different media that fits in the same housing. I have already bought a replacement filter for my '06 Sierra, and the book said it fit either one. The filter I bought is the high capacity one. Lou
dewfpo Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 It the same media as the standard filter, it just has more pleats per inch (more surface area). DEWFPO
BurbanZ71 Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 If the filter with RPO K-47 has more pleats will it have more restriction? Restriction = loss of power which I don't like!!!
dewfpo Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 I have not personally done any tests but I would not imagine any more restrictions with more pleats. In fact perhaps just the opposite. There's more surface area for the air to go through than the standard filter. Just my 2 cents. DEWFPO
MS3DALE Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 It the same media as the standard filter, it just has more pleats per inch (more surface area). DEWFPO Ditto,Its just a larger filter.
Buggle_96 Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I just got back from the auto store. Picked up a WIX air filter and they asked if I needed the heavy duty or light duty model filter. If you sit the filters on the counter the heavy duty stands about 1/4 of an inch taller....more surface area. My truck came with the high capacity filter and at $2 more I had no reason not to get the HD filter.
