different trans fluids

I topped off my tranny with pennzoil dexron 3/mercon, had a couple quarts for a year or 2 maybe longer, anyway i then read later about only using dexron 3 type h, whats that? are the 2 interchangeable? thanks.

also i topped it so it was reading in between the hot marks, fluid was on the letter O, after a 1/2 hour driving/engine running. Will this be okay? Is it too much fluid or not enough? thanks!

Type H is referring to the Mercon (or Ford) requirements. Dexron III is Dexron III so you should not have any problems.
