Removing rear AC

97 Halfback

I have a 97 GMC Savanna G1500 with 5.7. It has rear AC and I cannot get it to stop leaking. The conversion is a half back and the rear is seperated and was originally used to haul crated show dogs. I use it to haul parts and do not need the rear air.

The question is, can I just loop the lines of the condesdor or put some bolts in to block the rear lines? Everything else works fine it is just the lines that run from the underside of the van into the rear are leaking. Do I need to get a single line compressor and install it while abandoning the rear?

I have asked at my mechanic and the are clueless and even less willing to try and fix it.

Thanks

You can't loop the lines like you could with a heater core. You could block them off, but keep in mind the high side pressures can get very high (200-400 psi).

The best way would be to replace the a/c hoses up front with ones for a vehicle without rear a/c, then those connections wouldn't even be there. The compressor itself is no different.
