55 pu Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 recently (feb) got a '06 silverado crew cab. love the truck, but there is no flat place behind the front plate. after gently nudging a pile of snow in a parking lot, the license plate bent to match the roundness of the bumper.now it looks lousy..any ideas?... if i use the chrome frames,i dont know if i can straighten the plate out enough to look ok....thx, jim....
az'03Silverado Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Just move somewhere that doesn't require a front plate.
05Quadrasteer Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 All you can do about the plate is make it as straight as possible. I have done the same thing. As for the chrome frame don't count on it saving your plate. My chrome frame broke this past winter when I went into a snow bank. That is how my plate ended up being up bent up. Have a nice day. Bill
lrymal Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Go to Wal-Mart, Autozone, etc. Costs $3.00 for this: http://www.bellautomotive.com/asp/product_...ls.asp?id=24855
race_man6 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Go to Wal-Mart, Autozone, etc. Costs $3.00 for this: http://www.bellautomotive.com/asp/product_...ls.asp?id=24855 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This part works perfect. I was searching for a front license plate bracket for my '05 Silverado Z71. The dealer tried to sell me one built for an '05 Sierra and it won't work. After that the part guys determined that they don't make a bracket for the new Silverados anymore. Go for the $3.00 bracket. I got it at Autozone and it works great.
jhm Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Just move somewhere that doesn't require a front plate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ha! That is funny. We have to have them, the other day a guy gets pulled over for not having the front plate on. The cop gives him a written warning, then the guy see's that the cop car don't have one either. The irate motorist decides to ask the cop why he can drive around without one, yet he can't. The cop then gives him a $90.00 ticket, so the motorist runs to drugstore to buy a disposable camera and takes a picture of the cop car. The cop then tells him his car dosen't have the plate on because it was in a accident and he is waiting for the replacement plate. Sometimes it don't pay to open your mouth.
burb2001 Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Just reverse a simple black plate cover. Thats what I did with my 2001 Suburban I bought out-of-state. It did not come with a frame on the front. So I reversed an old black frame I had (basically placed it behind the plate) to reinforce the plate from the rear. Easy fix for me.
RobDarden Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Wow, I didn't even notice there was no bracket. Thanks!
