2007 Tahoe/Yukon RSE

I have looked at quite a few 07 Yukons and Tahoes, loaded up to the max. Almost every one on the lot is an LTZ or SLT with every available option. Have not seen one yet with RSE DVD system. Dealer's seem to be stumped. No option on chevrolet, GMC site when you build them. I know the NAV radio is avail with DVD option. My mom has it on her ESCY, but the screen is so small, you cannot even see it in the second row, much less the third. With small children, rear DVD is a must. Besides you pay 52K for a unit, what is another $1500. Is it gone?

Strange, the three that I have seen all have the RSE (rear seat entertainment) DVD. Two had NAV and one did not. Personally, I'm staying away from the NAV system. If I can't find some place with my map & Garmin Rino, well, I ain't going there...

Pfft...Amateur. I get everywhere I need to be by "Zen" navigation. I just look around for somebody that looks like they know where they're going...And follow them.

Hasn't failed me yet.

It was on all the Tahoe LTZs and Yukon SLTs I saw in my area. It's just a drop-down display with the infrared transmitter for the headphones and the built-in courtousy lights, in addition the the front mounted audio w/DVD player.

I'm actually disappointed that the DVD player isn't part of the overhead module (like in the GM CSVs), so that the nav unit up front could have its own DVD player. The way these are currently set up you can't use the nav function and have the kids watching a movie at the same time. Though the nav-less (backup cam-less too) package pictured in one of the Tahoe brochures (in a pre-production Tahoe LTZ) has both a DVD slot and a separate CD slot up front.

I see. So the head unit is actually the DVD player too. Just a screen in the rear. Good job GM. You can either shut the kids up, or navigate. I was hoping to do both. I can already see it. "Heah kids, I'm going to stop Home Alone so I can figure out where the he!! we are". Not that I navigate a whole lot, but come on, 53K and they are still cutting corners.

That was pretty much my major criticism too. I'm trying to decide if I should be checking to see if I can get the backup cam / display with the DVD player and without navigation for that reason. If so I'd be just as well off to get a portable nav unit separately that I can use in either vehicle, I could still have my backup cam, and the kids can watch movies while I figure out exactly where I took the wrong turn..

While I have never had NAV., I have had the DVD system and it is priceless. If you must have both, why not factory NAV and aftermarket DVD??

Personally, on my next one, I will probly go with headrest screens so my two kids can watch different things if they want to. That screen blocking my rear view always bugged me anyway.

If they want $1500 from the factory, surely you can get a real nice aftermarket set up for the same dough??

Just my thoughts.

Just saw this post. We have a 07 Yukon SLT we're testing right now on loan from GM and it has the RSE package.

Here's what I know, but i'll verify in the next few days...

-DVD slot in the rear, so you can navigate and play DVD in the back at the same time

- DVD slot in the nav unit, from what I can tell, can also play movies, but I have to check this out

-Can only get backup cam with Nav, because DVD player is in the rear seats, and obviously the driver can't see back there.

Tell me what else you want to know, or what pictures you'd like, and i'll get it for you and post them in this thread.

Great! I'm placing my order for the 2007 Avalanche (entered information last week, meet to discuss trade value and hand over good faith deposit this weekend). When I looked at the 07 Tahoe LTZ and recently the 07 Yukon SLT on the local dealer's lots, I swore that the overhead mounted display did not have a slot for a disc. And I didn't see anywhere else besides the nav unit up front where you could place one, but I didn't get a lot of time to look around, and obviously didn't bring a DVD to try it out. Can you get a pic of the rear DVD slot / player? This is really the only thing I was concerned about with the nav / dvd setup in these new trucks.

OK, here's an update I was wrong

There is no slot in the back, I made a mistake. Stupid me, I thought I saw it there. How it does work is this...

- The DVD goes into the CD slot in the front if you have the Navigation system. The nav slot only takes nav dvds.

Uh. Wow. I knew there were separate DVD and CD slots. I didn't realize that the "CD" slot was really a DVD slot, but non-Nav only. Anyway I'm really glad to hear that you can use the Nav while the kids watch a movie in back. That should make life on our long trips a lot more pleasant.

Yeah but now I can't listen to "Monsters of Rock" at the same time. Oh well, I listen to XM 90% of the time. I still think when you pay over 50K for a vehicle you should have the option of any audio, NAV, and DVD.
