New Guy on the Block here needs some help . I am going to be getting a 2006 2500HD CC to replace my 2004 2500HD Ext Cab. To get what I want I have to order the truck rather then buying straight from the lot, and the dealer I would order from I trust (as much as any dealer). Give me your honest opinion on if this price is too high, about average, or am I getting a deal. If you could also give me an idea of the price you paid for you rig (if its similar) I would very much like to know.

2006 CHEVY 2500HD w/ LBZ Diesel Allision 6 speed Crew Cab

LT3 Trim Packake

Onstar and XM (DELETED) * I don't want either on my new truck

4x4 / Standard Bed

Trailer Equipment Heavy Duty (Add on $255)

Spare Tire Lock (Add on $15)

Skid Plate Package (Add on $95)

Dual Alternators (Add on $224)

Everything else standard in the LT3 Package

Dealer Quoted me today ordering this truck $41,200 (Supposed Invoice) minus $500 rebate

Grand Total $40,700 plus tax/fees/ect. (MSRP $45,604)

Is $40,700 a good price for this truck or am I getting ripped off? This dealer is a family friend so I can't hagle with him because I am getting such a deal(?). I plan on looking at other dealerships but with the XM/Onstar delete I know I won't be able to find any truck exactly like I want. I am considering buying off the lot with the XM/Onstar but for spending so much on a truck I think I should get what will make me happy and that would be ordering the above truck.

Please give me your honest opinion and tell me if anyone would give me a cheaper deal ordering or if there are any extra rebates or programs. I have no problem driving 400-500 miles if it will save me a few grand. I was hoping to get the truck for $38,000 but maybe that isn't possible. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think that's a good deal. I go to www.edmunds.com They have a TMV calculator that will tell you approximately the invoice price and what others are paying for the same truck. Just based on what you said and my Georgia zip code I'm coming up with $40,528 after rebates. Go and see what it tells you with your zip code. Either way, I think $40,000 is a good price.

Jump on it. At $40,700, that is a super price.

I've just been through the same agonizing process. I paid a little over $42,000 out-the-door. That price included OnStar and XM (which I wanted) and $218 for title and four years of Oregon licensing.

Buy it, you will find no better price.

You will totally love your new Duramax/Allison LBZ, my friend. You didn't say if your 2004 2500HD was a Duramax or not. If it was, you will not believe the difference between the LLY and the LBZ...and you will really enjoy the sixth gear.

What color is it? And what color is the interior?

Yeah my 2004 is a LLY and Allison 5 speed, Color wise I have made up my mind on the Dark Blue Metallic for the outside and the Dark Charcoal Leather for the interior. The color I really wanted for the outside was the Hunter Green but GM discontinued that last year I believe, but I am happy enough with the Blue. I am leaning in the direction right now to go ahead and order outright for that price. You guys have put my mind at ease in reguards to the price. Thanks and keep up the posts on your opinion every one helps.

My truck stickered for $48,8xx. There was a $1k discount for the Dmax/ally pkg at the time and it was listed on the window sticker. This made the MSRP $47,8xx.

I pulled the paper work and saw that I paid $38,8xx + fees/taxes etc... The only thing it didn't show was what the rebate was at the time... I'm guessing it was $1500-$2500. That being said, the bottom line before rebates was $40,3xx - $41,3xx.

If the numbers are right for you jump on it. If you think you can do better shop around. Not like you have to purchase a truck in the next 2 seconds right?

I would get the onstar, and xm radio if they are part of the trim package. They may help when you decide to sell it some day. Deleting these things probably wont reduce your price.

I agree with Ron J...keep OnStar and XM. Will help with resale or trade in. Pretty much every GM truck / SUV i've seen has them. Especially if they don't cost you anything. You do not have to purchase the subscription plans for either, but I think both will give you some free time (that's how they hook you in...)

I didn't think I would like XM, but the comedy channel sold me. It's uncensored comedy with all the bad words. And the other channels are great also, especially when we lived in BFE.

OnStar is great for things like accidents or if your vehicle is stolen. I'm told if your vehicle is stolen, On-Star can shut it down remotely and/or locate it via sat. Pretty darn cool. (correct me if I'm wrong).

Price ain't bad. I calculated you are getting almost 11% off sticker. My last purchase was a factory order (04 2500HD CC 8.1/Allison) and I got 13.5% off sticker. Great dealer here in Nebraska. You could do a little better.

Fellas thanks for the feedback on pricing and what-not. I have a current XM subscription , and the comedy station is a favorate of mine, but I would rather add an aftermarket XM receiver to the truck. As far as Onstar goes I can't stand it. I had a 2000 Tahoe, and a 2004 Tahoe Z71 for work, both with Onstar, and they never helped me one bit. The cellular phone feature on Onstar is nice but if you are in a place that your cell phone won't pickup then neither will your Onstar. Also, and I am not a big brother nut by any means, I don't like the idea that a third party can track my movements and potentally shut down my car. Also I hate how the two antennas are mounted on the 2004-current trucks. Just my opinion take it for what its worth. Thanks again for the input fellas.

You can always pull the fuse for OnStar. The antennas have been reduced to antenna. Still the not so attractive shark fin but only one now for both OnStar/XM. That would not be a big deal at all for me if I found the right truck and price.
