Oil Pressure Sensor

My 94 full size blazer has sprung a leak. It looks like it's coming from my Oil pressure sensor. My question is can my sensor leak and still be good. Would this leak alot of oil because it only seems to drip for a few seconds when I turn it off. Is it leaking while I'm driving?

Silly question, would it leak alot?

It could also fail catastrophically. Some time ago I mounted a new pressure sender on an Army Deuce and a half. When I started the engine, the entire top of the sender came off and I had a gusher of oil. Even though I shut the engine off immediately, and nothing happened, I had a big mess to clean up. I think at least a gallon of oil gushed out of this broken sender in just a few seconds. The engine oil capacity of this truck is 22 quarts, so no big deal.

What i am saying to you though is - do not take chances with a leaky oil pressure sender. Replace it. If it fails like the one in my case while you are driving, you could be buying a new engine.
