FRONT DOOR SPEAKER

2001 2500hd - My driver side door speaker fell out of its mounting hole and is leaning on the speaker grill in side the door [ sounds real good too ! ] it looks like there are two speakers per door and this is the top one . Do I need to pull the door panel off or can the grill be removed Thanks

You will have to pull the door panel off. The top speaker is a tweeter that attaches to the door panel. So you will have to pull the panel off, then the grill off which has ears folded behind the panel to hold it on.

My 02 has done this twice, once was covered under warranty and this time I'm on my own. One of these days I will get around to fixing it.

This happened to my '02 HD and I drilled out the speaker where the tabs broke of and installed a rivit in each one. It won't fall out again. Took about 30 mins to do both of them.

I just replaced my factory speakers this weekend, It is very easy. There are 3 bolts holding the panel on, 1st is under the door, 2nd is near the door handle, 3rd is behind the power door lock cluster( it just pry's off easily) . Once those three are off you just lift the door panel about 1/2 inch then pull outwards, be carefull to unplug any lights, power locks mirrors etc. Oh yeah and by the way I put in Ultimate T3 speakers, WOW what a difference it made. With my factory deck that thing rocks! Good luck.
