Front Axle Install Help Needed Quick

Hey guys - I'm doing the front axle seals on my 03 sierra today. I got the passenger side axle out, but I can't get it back in! How hard to I have to hammer on the thing!

You shouldn't have to pound at all. It should slip right back into place. I only have a 4x2 but I was just reading in the Haynes manual about this. It gives a reminder to not re-use the old axle nut.

Well I had to disassemble the pasenger side axle tube. All the peices were laying down inside, so no matter how big of hammer I would have used, it wouldn't have gone in. Hopefully I put it back together ok. That little thrust washer in there was really worn, anyone else had that issue?
