2500 HD won't start

I have a '03 GMC Sierra 2500HD. This morning when I try to start it, the engine refused to start. When I turn the key, nothing happens except that there is a "lock" light that lights up on the left corner of the dashboard.

 

I tried to lock/unlock the doors, brake, park, nothing....

Dead battery?

Either a dead battery or corrosion around the cable terminals.

Yea, Delco batterys have a nasty habbit of breaking one of the terminal bolt carriers internally, so your battery will just go dead one day, and when you try to unscrew the terminal, SPLASH, battery acid all over your hands and engine bay.

I doubt it, it's been happening for a few years now. Happened to my brother's 2001 S-10. It went dead one day, and when he tried to take the battery out, the whole post came out of the side of the battery, still screwed to his cable, and a bunch of acid ran out of it. Nasty.

 

I've heard it from other people too. I think it's been happening for a few years.
