XM Ready or not

Just bought an 06 1500 crew cab without XM. Is the standard AM/FM CD deck XM ready where I can add the XMDGM100 - XM Direct XMDGM100 for GM Cars and Trucks? The Part number on the side of the radio is 15849619.

I have a factory XM radio, but I believe that the XM kit is designed to be installed on any non- XM factory radio without doing anything to it. Call a GM parts guy and verify this. I never heard of any "XM make ready modification" that needs to be done first.

 

Now, the installation is a litle involved, because you need to remove the radio and need to drill a hole in the roof to install the antenna, but that is the price of not buying one installed from the factory.

Thanks for the reply. I have had the radio out of the dash already and I think the TERK system will hook right up to the back of the radio. Last one I installed I ran thru a hole near the taillight on the roof.

The part number for the GM XM Radio kit is 12498768.
