5.3 engine noise P-slap?

I have a 2000 Silverado 5.3L. It started to develop some engine noise recently and i'm not sure what it is. I have read some posts about piston slap, and i'm still not sure if that's it. It has a normal "tick" just after I start it. After that, when I am accelerating or just on the gas a little, I can hear a little "tick", a "ping", something. Seems to only do it when i'm driving. Idling is fine, don't hear it then. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have osme engine pinging upon light acceleration. Try higher octane gas and see if it disappears.

I would take it to the dealer and have them check for update calibrations and decarbon overnight with top engine cleaner. Just 2 cents worth.

I ran a tank of 93 Octane Sunoco and the noise just about disappeared. Tech007, what are the updates that you advised?
