I did some mudin and climbing this weekend and I noticed when i was dirving home last night there was a high pitched sound coming from the rear of my truck. It sounds like the sound when your breaks are going bad but it does it when i am just driving not even touching the breaks. Also does not matter what speed i am going. Anyone ever have this happen? Or maybe know what is wrong?

I drive an '01 chevy Z71 w/ 6" fabtech lift and 35" bfg muds

Thanks

One of your rear brake pads probably ate a piece of gravel and the sound you heard was the piece of gravel being ran against the rotor at high speed until it became so incredibly hot that it wore a groove in the rotor and also melted the rock. So I predict the sound is gone by now.

that was kinda what i was thinking with the water or maybe something got in there. so tonight after i get off of work i am going to take my tires off and look at the brakes and i might just change them out anyway.

thanks for the help
