Hey guys...

alright so i put on my rainX about a week ago and we got our first big rain today....i was out driving and i put on my wipers and i started to notice that immidiatly after the wiper went over the glass for about a half of a second it was like the whole winshield was fogged, but only for a split second. I tried the defrost and everythign. I am assuming it is the rainX that did this? Anyone have any thing on this?

I don't care for rainx for that very reason. I should say the stuff you apply by hand, I use the rainx that you just pour into the wiper washer tank.

Is it the inside of the glass that foggs? I use the windshield washer stuff and love it.

It is the outside of the glass that "fogs" .... I used the hand application with the rag stuff....i think i am gonna just get the windsheild washer stuff instead.

How do you remove the stuff on there now? That stupid fog is driving me insane

I fell in love with the windshield washer stuff.

I thought you weren't supposed to use the wiper blades with the stuff that you put on with a rag?

When I used it a few years ago, it worked very well. Just had to remember not to use the wipers or it would smear, leaving a haze on the glass.

I stopped using it as my wife kept using the wipers all the time and I got sick and tired of re-applying it.

Haven't heard of the stuff you put in the washer fluid.

The reason you are getting that smear is you need to buff it out with a clean dry rag once it has been applied. Put a little water on the window then buff it out. Should fix the problem.

I have no problems with it like you state you have.

I agree

I use both the hand apply and the washer fluid stuff on my truck and car and enjoy them. the only time i have to use the wipers is if i'm going under 35 mph.

ARQ nailed it, you have to buff it out and but if out well or it will streak like crazy. I have been using the Rain-x on my trucks for over a decade and as long as i buff it off good i dont have any problems with it. I love the stuff.

OK...I will try spraying it down with the hose and then buffing it out when i get home.

You will find it easiest to buff out if you just use a little mist of water (like used in ironing or hair care) and a clean buffer. Keep the hose for washing the truck.

If it is applied correctly it will not have the "smudge" appearance. A rag is not the best applicator to use either. A newspaper, about a half of a page at a time to put it on, works wonders. Alot better than a rag. Use fresh pieces of newspaper to buff it off well and it will work flawlessly.

Good advice from all. I have used it a long time now with now problems as long as it is buffed out very well. Newspaper DOES work very well.

I will never use RainX, the rag style application, on a vehicle again. I used it on my Blazer and it was always hazing and fogging up on me. I haven't tried the Window Washer stuff now but, it sounds like it's pretty good.

Personally the stock window, bare, seems to do a pretty good job of beading the water...
