Hey everyone. I was considering investing in one of these. Is there anything that I should know about them that could be valuable? I was originally wanting a 93' model, but come to find out 91' is the only year for these. Not really interested in a Typhoon.

Thanks

Those things are a labor of love. Fairly high maintenance, with parts that aren't readily available.

Fast as hell too.

Yea...I'm starting to think they are a bad idea. They are more than I wanna spend and still get a nice one. Hell...for what you pay for a nice 91' Clone, I can put a hellova down payment on a JGP Silverado 4.8.

they made 2, 92 syclones, they are not as bad as you think, there are a couple of them having over 200k mile on them (stock engine and tranny), but if you powerlaunch it, and not know what is wrong with the truck, and drive the piss out of it, it will die.

buy a scantool, do a tune up, and keep some money behind to rebuild the 700r4 tranny (weakest part) you are good to go.

i got a build ty that goes from 0-60mph in 3.5 sec. and the sy is stock with a chip that does it in 4.4... the laugh on your face when you kill a ferarri..priceless.

pm me if you need some info

There are faster stock trucks out there, but there are not quicker stock trucks, especially for $12-15k.

True, I paid a little more than that.

Oh...You aren't THAT much "quicker" than me either. :D

wait till you line up against one at a stoplight, you will feel raped

I've driven a couple of them, and they aren't that much quicker than my Trailblazer.

Much love for the trucks, I've been pretty close to buying one on a couple of occasions, but "rape" me off the line? Hardly. I've got AWD too.

a good driver, and a good tuned truck can acomplish 0-60mph in 4.4 sec.

traiblazer ss 0-60mph in 5.5 sec

i love the trailblazer ss, but i have these monsters for fun, and a 40k car should be daily driven

Oh...WITH a tune? Tune the TBSS, getting rid of the nanny on the bottom, and it won't be 5.5 any more. I'm not saying that a well tuned TBSS is going to beat a well tuned Sy/Ty out of the hole, but it's not going to get raped.

I just can't wait until some folks start with the forced induction on the TBSS. That's going to be bada$$.

with a good tuned truck, i meant get everything back in working order as it came from the factory 15 years ago.

btw. didn't they make a proto turbocharged trailblazer in 2004?

They may have...I never even really looked at a TB until I saw this one. I had been looking at the JGP's, but I could build one of those trucks for 15k less than the sticker on them, and it would be faster than a JGP. I was getting ready to do just that with a used '04 when I saw this blue TBSS sitting at the dealership, and started to investigate...Lots of potential here, I think.

A twin turbo setup (like what Lingenfelter did for the Corvettes) would really turn my truck into a kick in the pants. :D

Not that I could afford it. :D
