some guys like to fish, or hunt, some guys like to play golf so some of you might not understand but I need a boat and some cash...probably 7,000 back in my trade to get a good motor and a used boat. i like my new 2006 sierra 1500 sle1 but thinking of trading it thursday for an '02 gmc yukon xl stl with all the fixins and a sunroof and auto start. the suv has 80,000 miles. :sigh: maybe the person who bought the yukon drove back and forth from ak to the lower 48 more than a few times. haha :) this dealership is asking 17,000 and some change. I won't allow them to make a monkey out of me..but I want them to offer me a car history and the sales guy who i've talked with before said he didn't know about that, but would certainly do a check on the work they did which means nothing.

I think their price is in the park and i'd like to get 25k for my truck. at least with an suv, I could take the back seats out and camp in it if need be. I'm on a fixed income and would not qualify for a boat on credit so all my doings will have to be cash. any advice if I should get this yukon is appreciate and will diminish the agony of giving up a new truck but then me and my dog can't walk on water so it's one or the other. thanks.

My best advice is to try to sell your truck outright. If you try to trade down, they will do their best to screw you big time. They won't want to give you much for your truck, as they will need to mark it up insanely to make a huge profit, while still selling it a lot cheaper than a brand new one. Next, when buying outright, you can walk in the door and beat them up pretty good on the Suburban. Stand firm and remind them that gas is $3 per gallon and how many people want to buy a $100 per fill up vehicle?

Some experts are predicting cheaper oil in the near future, maybe down to $40 per barrel. If you could wait a few months, your truck might be worth more (because gas has gotten cheaper).

thanks guys and again sorry for the bonehead post. I think i'll put my truck up for sale. 3 weeks ago I got rid of my ford to get into my sierra. My ford was an '04 f250 crew cab lariat with fx4 pkg. 6.0 diesel with leather heated seats, top of the line rig with 5 leaking injectors and then at 27,000 miles, needed new rotors after they were warped the 2nd time.

When I went to see about a trade with this particular dealer weeks ago they offered me an '04 sierra with 24,000 miles and 2k back in cash. I said forget that and made the 2 1/2 hr drive to anchorage and they treated me with at least some respect. An '06 sierra 4x4 extended cab with light duty tow pkg, aluminum wheels 17" the nice rims, sliding rear window, power windows etc...plus they gave me 3,000 cash back with my straight trade.

I try to have some patience and wait a few weeks and try to sell it outright but it's a small town of about 15,000 throughout the area.

Advertise on the internet. Price it fairly and it will sell.

I sure hope that oil prices fall, but that Idiot in Iran opens his mouth about "eliminating" Israel and oil jumps at least $5 per barrel in an instant! He needs a sock shoved in his mouth!! (Actually more, but I won't get into politics..)

Best of luck and I understand your draw to a Suburban. I wish I still had mine.
