Adding Subs and Amp to BOSE

Recommended Posts

I bought a couple Infinity tens and a amp recently and plan on installing them under my back seats of my 2005 silverado extended cab. I bought an adapter for my head unit from a stereo installation shop and was told that with the bose system you have a good possibility of getting poor quality sound when you add another amp and subs to it. Is this true? and whats my best way of going about doing this install? Thanks

Its a adjustable line output converter made my Install Edge. Is there a better way to go about this install? the converter is still returnable so any suggestions are needed. Thanks

I just did the very same thing in my new truck...LOC, an amp, and a couple of 10's on top of the BOSE system.

Sounds absolutely horrible. One song has no bass, the next song....BOOOOOOM.

I blame the BOSE signal.

I currently have a PAC adapter I bought from JPCustoms that I'm going to try out...It's more of a "pigtail in plug-n-play" sort of deal, instead of the LOC route.

I'm going to try and get it in this weekend and see if it makes a difference in how the signal is handled. I'll let you know if it helps at all.

Ya that would be great if you could let me know how that turns out. Would changing the head unit to an aftermarket deck make any difference? Thanks

I've been tinkering with the notion of the PAC adapter too, and would be interested in what you find out. I read on another thread you turn the bass off on the Bose system and use the add on for bass. You weren't able to do that on your system?

Instead of putting the subs in the back couldn't replace the Bose sub in the center console? Or will the system be out of balance.

Please excuse my questions; a woofer virgin.

Nope, I didn't get time...I spent most of the weekend f'ing with my house AC....And it's in the attic. 140 degrees up there baby!

I think I lost 10 lbs screwing with that thing.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get after the truck this week sometime.

I did the pac install a couple of weeks ago on my 05 crew w/ Bose. Sounds great now with a 800 Watt Kenwood and 2-10" MTX's behing the rear seat. Sounds way better with a cd then the radio.

can you post a link of where you got your PAC adapter. Thanks

Click here for the one I bought. I think it will be a different one if you have the lux Bose, instead of the regular Bose...So you might want to make sure.

PAC AOEM-GM24. The only way to add subs to a non-luxury Bose system. :driving:

LOC's dont work well at all on the Non-lux Bose systems because the sub output signal is JUNK.

The lux Bose amps (denali/Escalade) are completely different tho, LOC's work great with those because the sub output signal is 100 times better and more powerful. Thats why you can actually tell that a sub exists in the Denali's and Escalades, versus the Tahoes/Burbans/Silverado's.

My PAC AOEM-GM24 finally arrived but now i have a problem. The adapter that goes into the head unit fits good, but the adapter that goes into the orignal wiring harness wouldnt fit. The lower slot slide lines up on opposite sides. Is there anything i can do about this, or did i get sent the wrong adapter. I am about ready to go crazy trying to get these subs working. Thanks for any help

Weird...I put my GM24 in today as well...It plugged right up. The only problem I'm having is I can't find crapola for a remote turn on lead. :)
