but ...

I pull a 28' box with my 8.1 HD.

Would I see an appreciable difference if I installed a "bubble on the front side of my trailer?

What to you mean about the buble? Are you talk about a bubble like protusion on front or side of trailer? If that is the case, the front with disrupt the air flow the least and might even help it some if it is big enough.

If it is a bumper pull, a topper/camper would help the most making the air that goes over the windsheild go straight back instead of dropping down behind the cab and running smack in to the front of the trailer. to make this "most efficient" the tongue must be as short as possible, bringing the front of the trailer as close to the rear of the truck as possible, and the height of the topper has to be as tall and maybe a little taller than the top of the trailer. Think NASCAR drafting.
