Power Gains for 97 5.7L Vortec

Hey guys. I've done alot of searching on this topic, but i can only find info on the newer 5.3 L motors.

 

I want a little more kick out of my 5.7L. Would i feel a major difference with a wait4me 89 octane performance tune, magnaflow cat back exhaust and an intake?

 

Regardless, i will still purchase the exhaust for the awesome sound, but will this parts combo gain me any power? will i notice it?

 

any opinions really appreciated!

What is considered to be a relatively cheap and easy bolt on/upgrade that will increase oomph out of the 5.7's?

The 5.7 lacks the tuned intake of the modular engines so a better intake would help it and it would respond to a warmed cam too if you are looking for a real increase in power. Dual exhaust will not do that and may actually hurt your low speed responce and city MPG for what it is worth.

Yes it can but I just want you to understand that while a 350 in legendary in what you can get out of it with work, to se any big power gains it will need a different intake and a cam as though two items hold back its potenail more than anything. One reason the 4.8/5.3/6.0 run so well at times is because of their tuned intakes which can really wake up a engine at times.

i am not looking for anything seriously drastic. i am definately looking into an intake, but not a cam.

BTW, I do have a Hypertech tune on my 2000 K3500 SRW OBS truck with a 5.7. I use the premium tune and it did help it some but I also use it to remove speed limiter and calibrate speedo. ((not that I run flat out a lot, I just like knowing that the the limiter is not there)
