I thought the Z71s used Bilstein shocks from the factory, but the shocks on my new truck are red and black, not blue and yellow. What's up? :)

Isn't there one or two years between there that they reverted beck to the Bilstein, then switched back to the Tenneco's?

Nope.Not on the Full-Size pickups.

Now the Z71 Avalance's do use Bilstein's.

Well that's just dumb. So they use Bilsteins on one truck model and not the other? How stupid. Oh well.

Not really. GM spreads out contracts to several suppliers over the entire 1.5 million per year truck platform on purpose to keep the pricing competetive. They usually break apart the Pick-ups from the SUV's and the Lanche due to all being made in seperate plants.

Also if one supplier falls behind or gets into financial troubles they can turn the second supplier on for a back-up.

So it really does make sence.
