E Brake adjustment

Recommended Posts

Dealership wants somewhere in the $200 range for E brake adjustment. Id like to tackle it myself. Anyone know of a write up on the procedure. I think you have to remove the caliper, rotor, etc to get at the drum E brake inside the rotor hat. A step by step would be nice. Also, is the procedure similar/same for a 1500 Silverado? TIA

I've got my Helms Manuals at home, I'll check them.

If nobody posts up an html friendly version by COB tomorrow, I can email the pdf file to you guys (if it's in the manual).

Just drop me a pm with your email address.

they adjust the same as drum brakes...remove dust plugs and adjust star cluster...have never done this ...on driver side the rubber dust plug is positioned at the bottom, on other side it is at the top.....if you overadjust it will drag and prematurely wear the shoes. you will need a small adjusting tool.

you should buy Haynes manual ($20.00)...# 24066, Silverado/Sierra....99-05

be cautious with anything you do on these vehicles because many instructions found in the manuals are incorrect or non-existent.
