i want to make my 2000 sierra look a lot more up scale inside.

because the whole inside is dark black plastic. and i was thinking of painting parts of the dash chrome with gloss black using areosals(vht, duplicolor, krylon etc). has anyone used chrome spray paint? pics? opinions on what it would look like.

I think I've read where some users have used the chrome paint then cleared over it. No first hand experience though.

I would think if your are doing the dash with chrome spraypaint, it'll probably look/work pretty good.

Like Smooth said, clear coating it will certainly help (for both look & wear)

Just be sure to use many light coats, not a couple heavy ones. And clean the dash really good. Soap & water should work good enough.

Good luck & post some pics once the job's complete.

clean real good (dawn work well at removing hand oil)

clean again with some paint degreaser (alchohol ect.)

scuff up real well with scotch pad or sand paper

re clean to get off sanding dust

put under hot lamp for a hour or so

re clean with paint degreaser

apply adheason promoter per instuuctions

dust with paint (dusting is very light coats so light sometimes you think you didn't realy paint it)

re dust till it's covered well and the 2 times more.

wet sand with 2000 + paper

tack cloth

dust again

0000steel wool till it shines if it dosent shine up

tack cloth dust shine till it comes out the gloss you want

the shine will help determin the depth created by the clearcoat

now comes time to dust with clear the number of coats of clear will determin the true depth for a bright look 3-4 should work medium 5-6 7-10 give mirror like looks over 10 and some clears start to yellow

now comes the final sand

800 will provide prolly the best shine more angles in the clear to get light to the crome and back in your eyes

1000-1500 give the gloss look

anything over 1500 will reflect to much and darken the crome

thats how i like to do it

clean spray paint clean spray clear will also work

other options are apliques and replacement trim pieces. in wood carbonfiber and chrome or brushed allumininuunioninm
