James I can't give you the answer from here but seeing as I do this for a living I can offer you some good advice.

These distributors wear out faster than the engines nowadays. I've seen this problem caused by worn distributors messing up the ignition system. The pick-up coil is usually bad and putting a new coil in only works for a few days until it's beat up too. A reman dist. will come with new bearings, pick-up coil, and ignition module. These three things will go a long way to solving your problem.

Check the MAP sensor vacuum line for good signal. Sometimes the throttle body underside gets carbon build up thick enough to clog up the port. Wierd things happen like vacuum gets trapped in the line or doesn't get there at all. Sometime raw fuel is blocking the line inside. This usually shows up after a long drive like yours does. This give the fuel time to build up in the line or the carbon time to build up on the port during a steady state cruise. Throttle cleaner flush down the the port will be a temporary fix. If that helps pull the throttle body off and clean the underside well.

A leaking regulator will flood the engine on shut down. Next time it won't start hold the throttle wide open and keep cranking for about 15 seconds. If it starts like so you've been flooding.

Does power seem to fall off as you drive? Check the convertor with a mallet. If you rap on it and hear rattles inside then it's probably a disengrated catalyst that clogs up your exhaust as you drive. It may take a bunch of cranking to shake it loose and start it again.

Those are the things I come up with first for a cranks OK no start condition where you have spark and fuel.
