That all depends on your local regulations.

Most places will NOT allow any tint on the windshield, except for the top portion.

For the driver's window and front passenger, darkest normally allowed is 35%.

The rest of the windows, doesn't matter.

When the rubber hits the road, it really depends on the police officer pulling you over, feeling that the tint is too dark.

That's my experience with tinted windows in Ontario. I have 5% on my truck...haven't had any issues in 4 years and I've been all over Canada and as far south as Miami.

Hey,on my fronts i have 20 % then my back window and two sides i have 3% (limo over stock so limo over 20%) its dark as hell at night but perfect during the day

I would recomend from experience not to do the windshield. I had a 92 Daytona Iroc w/ limo 5% on the back 3 windows,20% on the doors, & 50% on the windshield. It was tough to see at night on when it was "real" dark out ( no moon or stars). As to the front doors as said before it depends on the local police & state laws. Here in Michigan with a Dr.'s note you can have as dark as you want on windows behind the driver & front passenger & the legal limit for the front windows & winshield is 35% the last I knew.

In my truck (2000 ECSB Indigo Blue) I have 20% on the sides ( my truck was not tinted from factory ) and what ever an aftermarket slider is (maybe 35%). I also have a topper that is why I never had the slider tinted darker. If i did it over I probably would do 35% on the front doors for night time backing up.

One other thought if you do consider the front winshield is if the tint shop can do it in ONE piece or if it will be "sectioned" & have seams that would possibly distort your vision.

Good luck on making a decision.

There's a little arrow on the upper corners of your front windshield with a letter A and line below it. I think they surprisingly call it the "A Line". The tint cant be below that here in Delaware, and i'm sure it's probably standard. It's pretty much common sense that you wouldn't want to tint your whole windshield, but that "a-line" is the cutoff point.

I did have 20% on the truck, then I had another layer of 20% on top of that ---making it 5%. Its much cooler and its nice. I can see out but you can't see in.

That's all that matters.

Check your local regs and those of where you travel. When I lived in the San Francisco area they pulled folks over all the time for tinted front side glass. In LA everyone has tinted front side glass. While legal in Florida, I would never tint the widshield below the top. All tint distorts somewhat. I have been happy with 35% and it keeps things plenty cool while still allowing you to back up on a rainy might without using braille parking techniques

Make sure to post a picture of the back window when it's done! ;)

That is actually called the "AS1" line; surprisingly, the AS1 designation itself apparently has nothing to do with tinting--it is a designation for windshield glass safety glazing standards.
