I got a 98 GMC ext cab 8' bed K1500. It has a 6600' GVW. I added a tranny cooler just cuz I wanted to. I haul a 4000' trailer. What can I really haul cuz I wanna move up. It has a 5.7L auto and a 3.73 with a 14 bolt rear with the camper package. Any clues where to go to find out would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Heres what my 97 GM trailering guide sez for ball hitch towing..................

1/2 ton ex cab 4x4 350 3:73s auto..........

max trailer weight 7000 lbs.

max. tongue weight 800 lbs.

Note: max. trailering weight is calc. assuming the driver and 1

passenger are in the tow vehicle and it has all the required

trailering equip. The weight of addl . pass. and cargo in the

tow vehicle musr be subtracted from the max. trailer weight.

Thanks for the info!

I do use a weight distribution hitch and I know the GVWR is a little heavier because of the 8' bed on the extended cab model(6600 lbs. vs. 6200 lbs.). I just didn't know the max towing.

Thanks again!

The GVW is 6200 lbs. No mention of 6 or 8 ft. bed mentioned.

The 6800 lb. GVW rating is for diesel engine..............

The GVWR is listed as 12,000 lbs.with the following note:

To attain the GCWR, KO4 engine oil cooler is required unless engine

RPO includes heavy duty cooling equipment.
