Rhett Bomar

I'm sure most of you have heard by now about the two Oklahoma football players dismissed from the team. Rhett Bomar and a starting offensive lineman. I'm not really sure what I think. On one hand I give Stoops credit for telling everyone who's boss and layin' the law down. On the other hand, I recall a couple of incidents at Nebraska with Eric Crouch very similar to this and the punishment was not nearly this severe.

Any Okies have any info on how good that juco transfer is?

It's just a game !!!!

Yeah, just a game.

A game that brings in half a billion dollars to the school that helps keep tuition and living costs down.

I always thought it was funny how people think that sports should not be associated with schools...but its the sports that keep the schools available to the not so wealthy students.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

And even if it is a game, its still a passion of some people. I love football. I'm a student at UH, but grew up listening to my father yell at the TV during OU games. This news was pretty dissapointing.

Which is why I think they need to pay those kids for what they do. They bring in all that money for what...A free degree? A Bachelor of Arts in "Not attending more than 1 class a month"?

Pay them a decent wage above the table, give every one of them their choice of vehicle lease with a reasonably cool car, and maybe they won't be doing so much underhanded crap like this.

I'm not saying it doesn't bring in the $$$'s that so many gulible people are willing to spend way too much on .

I guess what ticks me off about sports such as football, is (atleast in the professional leagues) they get payed too freakin much for playing a game!!!

Why don't our men & women in uniform get payed like that ??

They deserve it far more than someone who just plays a game.

War ain't no game !!! It's real life.

you bet. Now that I've had time to think about it, I like Oklahoma's (I've had to quit calling them "our" since I'm a UH student now) chances with Thompson.

Thompson is a strong player, i think he will be a success.

War against Texas......oh what i would give to see that burnt orange flag actually "burn" and that stupid cow on my dinner table....heh.

And i agree about the NFL paying too much, it is the same with all pro sports. Hence why i don't watch pro. College is the peak of performance before money gets involved TOO much.

You know OU recruited Thompson to be QB, and Vince Young to be WR, and Mack Brown of Texas recruited Young to be QB, and Thompson to be WR.

Thompson is suppose to be the better athlete out of the 2.

Thompson is a well rounded player, but IMHO he shined at WR better then QB. He didn't show the split second decision making that Hyple or White had. Though, honest to say, i am glad that White is gone.

Oh and praise the lord Chuck "Third and Long" is gone. Hated that guy.

yea...Thompson is probably a better WR than a QB, but last year he didn't really have a line to play behind. This year he'll have expirence at line, and expirence at WR. Yea, Heupel, Hybl and White all had better decision making but they also spend serious time at the position. Thompson hasn't really been able to learn anything or get into a groove.

I am glad Long is gone. But definatly not White. Great heart. Great QB. It's a shame his legs were as bad as they were.
