Lifting the rear seat

Has anyone lifted the rear seat in their trucks? I was considering putting a 2"x2" square tube steel, maybe a 3"x2", having holes drilled in it to attach to the existing bolt holes. I wanted to do this so I can built a speaker box to fit 2 12" JL Audio subs, and I need about 7 or 8 inches of mounting depth, or 12"-13" under the front edge of the seat. Any ideas? thanks

Hi guys. I am too new to the forum to start a new thread, so was hoping to try my luck at resuscitating this one. I need 7.5" of mounting depth for a 10 inch sub, and I dont know if I can pull that off under the rear seat of my ext. cab sierra with the bench at stock height. Thanks.

Does anybody have any pics of or experience with lifting the rear seat. I'd probably only need an inch or two. I don't have the sub yet but I am just trying to cover all my bases. This will also be my first custom audio attempt, so the fewer surprises the better.

Heres a link to some premade speaker boxes:

I have those exact boxes in my EC. They look and sound great and hold up really well. I got two singles because the are easy to remove if you need to put up the seat and need the floor space.

I got mine off of eBay about two years ago (new from the manufacturer) for about $40 a piece, shipped. Might want to check there first.
