first off gmc 2500 (not HD but i figure you HD guys are running more 6.0's than the 1/2 ton forum) air compressor will try locking up causing belt to squeel and entire truck shakes, i have it narrowed down to compressor cause it will not do it unless i have the air on.

i have went to 2 different shops and they say my truck can have 2 different compressors and they didnt know how to tell what i had or what they could get.

so how do i tell wich one mine has?

were is the cheapest place to get it? local dealer wants $730 for either one, they just dont know what one :banghead:

That's interesting... seems to me if you provide them with the VIN they should be able to tell you which one you have.

Can you read any numbers off the existing compressor?

i gave them the vin i guess it didnt do any good.

i havent looked for numbers, opened the hood the other day on my lunch break to check it out and seen the compressor was on the bottom and i was in a gravel lot, so i didnt check any further.

i was hoping it was year dependent or something that you guys might have known that the dealer guy didnt. :bs:

yeap im a lazy bum
