I need to know where I can find a straight axle conversion for a 96 Z71... what all is involved, how much does it cost, and what is a good front end to use on a budget but won't let me down?

This will get you started, here is the only kit that I know of:

$750 and you have to buy all of the following in addition:

OTHER PARTS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE CONVERSION:

An exhaust modification is required with this kit.

A non Autotrac transfer case is required

Crossover Steering Kit.

Front axle assembly with 32½" spring pad width.

Front leaf springs (88-91 Chevy Blazer or Suburban type).

Front & rear shocks.

Brake lines.

Front drive shaft (contact your local drive shaft specialist).

Front u-bolts.

Rear springs and/or rear block and u-bolts.

This guy is putting 14 bolt FF axles on front and rear, and replacing his tranny and transfer case, hes over $6000 and hasn't even bought wheels/tires yet.
