question to all you techs out there....i was thinking about putting a transgo shift kit in my new truck was wondering if it would void the warranty or if the techs at the dealership would even care.....also i heard that the shift kit would improve the longevity of the transmission versus the stock transmission...your thoughts and inpute in this matter are greatly appreciated...

ive installed trans go kits in my last 3 trucks when new, im a firm believer that they inrease the amount of abuse a tranny can handle before it fails, on one truck with a 4l80e trans, i have 4-wheeld the snot out of it its whole life since new and used it to tow a lot of things it shouldnt have and other than fluid changes nothing has been done to it and at 150,000 miles it still chirps the tires when it shifts.

If the dealership service dept. knows the trans has been modified with a shift kit is almost guaranteed they will deny warranty for trans issues. If you get a tough cookie of a service dept., they might deny ANY driveline issues... u-joints, rear end, etc.

back in 1990 when the truck was only a couple months old the dealer put a shift kit in my dads hd2500. i dont know what kind it was but it shifted real good and firm. this was the old th400 trans. from day one the truck was used to haul a slide in camper and boat, then a fifth wheel camper, still have that truck around and plow snow with it. the trans has never been apart, so again i am a firm believer that shift kits improove the durability. id say go for it, if you run in to problems with your dealer just find another that doesnt have thier head up thier ass.
