Replacing stock Bose sub with JL in stock box?

I have a 2006 Sierra 2500 Hd with the non-lux touch screen nav. I hate the sub that came with the Bose system and want a little more bass without losing anything. I know JL makes a box that replaces the stock sub box but you lose the rear AC. Don't think my son would appreciate that. What size is the stock sub? How many ohms? How much power does the Bose amp send to the sub? Lastly what is the rough volume of the stock box? I have no prob with some fabrication if needed to make this work. Thoughts?

Couple of things you can do here. First, take the stock sub out and fill the box with packing peanuts. Then take the packing peanuts out and put them in a container that you know the exact size of. As in build a quick 1 foot cubed box and see how many times you fill it up. That will give volume. As far as ohms on the stock sub, just get a cheap voltometer that shows ohms and check each pole. Lastly, you should be able to take the stock sub out and see the model number and the stats. Most stock speakers will have a power rating on them somewhere. If not, google the serial number and see what ya come up with.

What kind of room do you have under the seats or behind the seats to do a custom install? A do-it-yourself fiberglass enclosure can be really easy to do, with a little reserch. Hope it helps.
