Do I need Air Pressure Sensors?

Hi all, I was looking at buying a set of new take off rims from the GMC dealer, they originally had air pressure sensors in them but they were removed. Do I need to add these sensors to make the wheels functional or do the sensors just go in the air valve spot or something?

 

Basically, will wheels that originally had the sensors work/hold air without the sensors?

Yes, the wheels that originally had sensors will work/hold air without the sensors.

Just went through the same senario. The wheels are identical. Sensors are only installed in wheels with vehicles equipped with tire pressure monitors.

I also tried installing indirect sensors that use antilock brakes but some friends objected to that.
