Is this covered by the warranty?

I have an 06 suburban with 10k miles and today I noticed some rust. The paint inside the gas door(not the door itself) has somehow chipped away near a screw and now there is surface rust. There is more loose paint around it and I'm sure more rust. Will the dealer repair this under warranty?

Thanks,

Caleb

You can try but good luck.

Their rust warrenty is generally only good for rust from the inside out...and generally never if it is surface rust. Especially if the paint is chipped or scratched.

Try it though....each dealership is different on how they handle customer service.

And most times, it's "rust thru". :flag:

The plus you have for you is that it's still under the factory warranty. As mentioned above, the corrosion warranty is for rust-through. I did have some paint bubbling at the bottom of my doors on the inside where the sheet metal is folding with drain holes above it. The dealer had the body shop they work with take care of it for me and it was warranty work.

As mentioned above, some dealers will take care of you, some won't. If you have one that won't, try taking it to another. If all else fails, get some touch-up paint, some sand paper/emery cloth, and some rubbing alcohol and take care of it yourself. But I'd see if they'll take care of it under warrenty first.

GM dealer also sell spray cans of factory paint. T.this is very handy for repairing small areas such as this. I would not even waste my time with the dealer. I would wet sand the inside of the gas door with fine snadpaper, spray some primer on it, dry snad very lightly and shoot with factory paint. Possibly clear coat after it dries.

O.on the other hand, it never hurts to ask. If they do it under warranty, maybe it is worth it.
