Changing Fuel Filter

Im going on a trip this weekend, and i'd like to put in a new fuel filter in my truck to improve the mileage.

 

From what i see, its just 2 bolts...but my Chiltons manual talks about relieving fuel pressure...

You will relieve the pressure one way or another, they recommened doing it at the schrader valve to keep yourself from getting a face full of gasoline since these fuel systems hold up to 65 psi.

The easy way to do it: open your gas cap the night before and dont start the truck until you have changed the filter. That is what I have always done and I get a couple of slow trickles out of mine when I crack the line.

I killed the pressure by pulling the fuel pump relay out while the truck was idling. After the engine died, I changed the filter.
