Help!

I've found a box mounted inside my 89 GMC Sierra that reads "Model AS-1200. I can tell it isn't factory and along side of it is a toggle switch that when hit makes the box click (like a relay) and a alarm beeps twice. It says on the side of the box "use only with automatic transmissions" Does anyone know what this is or what it does?

An alarm system that features remote start? It's called an Autostart 1200.
