Rear Shock Frame Mount

I have a 1995 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton 4x4 x-cab short box and it appears the passenger side upper shock mount bracket has bent and broke.

Does anyone know if this can be bought at the dealer?

Are you sure the rear upper shock mount isn't just a bolt that bolts horizontally into the frame? Maybe you should post a pic.

No, the bracket that is attached to the frame has torn. I'm looking for this bracket.

Pull the bed and clean it up and reweld it. I doubt you will be able to get that at a dealer.

How did that happen?

Jumping, or severe overloading?

It might have happened when I loaded up with 40 8' fence posts this summer, then with some off roading last month it probabally got worse.

I will try and bend it back and weld it.

you might have had a locked up shock absorber, since something has to give when you hit bumps the bracket let loose.

you might be able to find one at a salvage yard. if not, a dealer that deals with crash parts should be able to get one for you. If it is a part that is put on a truck, it is a part that can be purchased.........If that doesn't work, check with a body shop.
