Tap on Brand New 2007 Silverado

Hello,

My brand new 2007 Classic Silverado (5.3 L, 2WD, 3.23 Gears) already

sounds like it has a valve tap with only 500 miles on the odometer!

Yesterday I noticed the engine seemed to be mis-firing. Now today the

tap can be heard at idle from the cabin. It isn't easilly discerned with the

hood popped and standing by the engine though.

I was concerned driving around town with these low differential gears. It runs

in 4th gear at only 40 mph, 1200-1300 RPM. Methinks I best keep it in 3rd

gear around town, 4th for the highway only.

Could the engine already be damaged? Or maybe it just needs some Marvel

Mystery oil and an oil change. Any thoughts please.

Best,

Eli

Your gearing has absolutely nothing at all to do with the tap. Trying looking at the engine running at night. If you have a misfire and a 'tap' it could be a bad ing. wire snapping during misfire.

Brand new with 500 miles on it. Take it back, don't waste your time and money doing anything you would normally do with a motor with 100,000 miles on it. Tell them to give you a loner truck while they work on yours.
