Help Me, Help My Yukon!

Greetings,

Can someone out there tell me if it is possible to switch off the 4 to 8 cylinder gas saving mode on my 07 Yukon Denali? The dealer was reluctant to say much on the matter, something about the EPA and required minimum MPG. When I test drove the new Yukon I didn't notice it, but now with about 2K on it's driving me crazy. The sensation is similar to shooting a 22 Long Rifle, and expecting 44mag recoil. If you romp down on the pedal she really moves, but more than half of the time, there is a distinct hesitation. I had a 2001 Yukon for the last five years, and frankly enjoyed it more. Please tell me there is something that can be done about this, either factory or after market, I don't care about the warranty.

Thanks for any help or recommendations, Ross

GM does have a TSB on that model for hesitation to recalibrate the pcm/tcm this may help out your problem.

But also you have to understand you can't compare it to your 2001 yukon, since on the 2001 the throttle body was controled by a cable connected to the accle pedal and now on your 2007 there is no cable the pcm controls the throttle body

Huh? Correct me if I'm wrong, but how would it be possible to disable the gas-saving mode on a '07 Yukon Denali/XL Denali since it has the 6.2L engine which doesn't have the Active Fuel Management feature at this time; the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Yukon XL offer AFM but that's w/ the 5.3L engine.

I'm not saying that your SUV isn't experiencing some sort of hesitation issue, but it most definitely isn't due to AFM...and since it's not available on the Denali to begin with, it can't be disabled/switched off. Did you ask the dealer specifically if it was possible to turn off AFM on your Denali? If so, and indeed the dealer was "reluctant" to say much about it and just spout off stuff about EPA and MPG...that only goes to show how clueless this dealer was for not paying attention.
