how do i check timing 94 4.3L

Cant remember how to adjust timing since i havent had a car or truck you could adjust timing on since i was in my teens,lol. It a 94 chevy truck,full size with a 4.3L and auto. I know you have to disconect a wire somewhere to check base timing. also the timing light i have is not a inductive one so i will need some one to tell me where to hook it up. I know where the clips go to the battery but not the one to the tach or whatever. Feeling a little dumb right now.thanks.

boy i figured some of the old timers would have been all over this one,lol. any help would be great.
