RPO Code L59 versus LM7

Hey Folks,

What is the difference in these two RPO codes on the 5.3 engine for a 2004?

L59 Engine, Vortec 5300 V8 SFI Flex-Fuel

versus

LM7 Engine, Vortec 5300 V8 SFI

I am not sure how these differ other than the ability for one to use different grades of fuel.

Regards,

John

The engines themselves are the same,Just like you said, the only difference is that one can run on "E85" and the other cannot.

The major difference is the fuel rails & lines, plus some sensors and different PCM tuning to allow for running "E85"

Nope,Shouldn't be much noticable difference in performance.

"E85" does have a higher octane rating over regular gas which should give you more hp and tq.,However the few people I know that have run "E85" said they noticed no difference in power or performance.

The one nice thing about "E85"...Its burns clean, very clean so it will keep your intake system, including your intake valves plus the top of your pistons, spark plugs,02 sensors and converters clean from carbon buildup,The downside to "E85"...It dosen't get the fuel mileage that regular gas gets,I.E. Its not as efficent and holds less energy per gallon than regular gas.

Check out this website from GM for more info on "E85"...LiveGreenGoYellow
