Went and drove a few cars...the new G6, and an '06 Grand Prix GT. D@mn that GT was nice!! Supercharged, fast as he!! too! My girlfriend is needing to get rid of her Volvo S80, and she is really into that GT too. Anyone got any ideas how the insurance is gonna run with it being supercharged, or is that going to make that much of a difference?

if you go with the GT (gtp) check out some of the GP forums. also regalgs.org. the supercharged engines have loads of potential and there is a pretty decent performance market for them. they make awesome sleepers. thee are a few guys out there that run down to the 11's and are still (somewhat) daily drivers

I had a regal GS (nearly the same supercharged engine as in the 06) and loved it for every on e of the 90,000 I put on it.

It's probably going to be more than that G6 as far as insurance goes. However, with the extra room and more torque, and still pulling off 28-30 mpg on the highway (if you can keep your foot out of it), I think the trade off would be worth it.

If you're going to go that route, go over to www.clubgp.com and surf around. There's TONS of information over there, as well as links to all the vendors (or at least they can be found). The Grand Prix in any trim level is a very easily modded car and I'm sure she'd love it stock...

And as MustGoFaster said, there are guys who are running low 11's and drive their cars every day. There is also one car (turbo'd, still FWD and just a V6) knocking on the door of 8's in the quarter. Technically still a street car, but they don't drive it many places other than the track.

My wife has an 04 Grand Prix (non-supercharged) and our insurance went up slightly from her Trailblazer. But like it was said before, it's roomy, has lots of power, and still gets close to 30 mpgs.
