Power windo motor replacement

I have a 99 Tahoe, and the passenger rear windo goes down quick and wonderful. But going up, it is getting hung up. I looked over the way the track is, and see the window shift and thought that was a problem, but the drivers does the same. If I pus downward on the rear of the window to keep it level going up, it does fine until I let go, but stops then. I am thinking that the motor is weak and needs replacing. I was inside the door today and it was lithium greased nicely, but sprayed some liquid wrench on it to see if that helped and it did not.

Now I am left to look at the motor to be bad. But how do you remove it? It does not look accessible to the mounting.

Thanks for your help and any tips on what else may be the problem.

I am not sure how different the 99 Tahoe and a 2000 Yukon are as far as going from OBS to NBS, my passenger rear window went out and it is cable operated. There is a spool that the cable wraps around on mine and my cables got all messed up. I had to buy a whole new regulator and motor as there is no regulator only option from GM. I was lucky and found a brand new regulator and motor on ebay for 25 bucks + shipping. My regulator came out with 3 bolts holding the regulator and the two clamps holding the glass (make sure you anchor that well!!). It took me less than 1/2 hour to replace it. I would do a search on your year of regulator and see what it looks like. It could be your motor or it could be the cables messing up or...if yours is like a scissor type regulator, a bushing or something going bad. My hardest hurdle was removing the door panel without breaking the tabs that goes into the door and keep from getting the black goo all over me. If it is the cable type, it will come out and go in smoothly. My motor was fine and have an extra motor now in case one of my motors goes out. Just need to keep the kids from hanging on to the window when they roll it up!

Good luck. If I can find out anything I'll post some more.

I believe it must be different, as I do not see a cable system in there. It is scissor regulator and looks like I need to drill the rivots out to remove the regulator assembly and then go from there. I did see on Ebay a regulator and motor assembly.

It is just sort of strange that the windows angles so much as it is going up, and that was my origonal thought of what was wrong, but it does the same on the driver side rear window.

Thanks for your help. I am thinking that the 1999/2000 year was the crossover for the newer model equipment as well.
