Need Towing Tire: E Load Rating

Recommended Posts

Tried the General Grabber AT2 tires. Gawd, the tread squirm and wandering! If it doesn't improve I'm going to have to figure something else out. Any thoughts on a good stable, confident on-road towing tire that can handle a little dirt too?

The Michelin LTX M/S can be bought in a "D" or "E" range tire that will handle anything you haul. They are quiet, track straight, have excellent traction in all conditions and will last a long long time... The only drawback is that you have to pay some extra money to get a tire as good as this one!

I just put on some TOYO Open Country M/T's in 285-75-16 load range E. So far so good. They weigh in at 65lbs per tire and are made here in the USA.

i made the mistake of buying toyos and never will again, more than twice as much wear with the same miles as my previous bfgs. i have never been happy with any michelin tire off the pavement, maybe a good towing tire, but expect to get stuck on wet grass.

Really? do you have them underinflated? I have these same tires and have done some pretty good towing already and have noticed NO problems whatsoever. No squirming or wandering at all.
