I have a 2001 Silverado stepside 1500 5.3L 2wd. I would like to buy the dash cluster that came in 2001 in the 1500 HD (Trans. Temp Gauge) Mine doesn't have one in the cluster. Does the computer have to be relearned after the

install?? On the website it says I can put it in in 15 min. but Not Sure of the computer in my truck will recognize the additional gauge fron the 1500Hd

or it is 2500HD. Would you know the part no. and just about how much this change will cost me. If I could get the part number I would try to order it online rather than the Stealership. Thanx so much!!!

Frank, I also considered this but ended up going with an Interceptor gauge from Areoforce. It is a 2 & 1/16" gauge that will monitor approx 28 funcions from your ECM. It simply plugs into the diagnostic port under your dash and you can mount it anywhere you like. I put mine on the "A" pillar in a Pod just to the left of the windshield.

Check out their website. It is a neat tool and is about the same cost as the cluster but will provide you with tons more info and you do not have to go through all that Mileage resetting junk.

Frank, I see where you posted again but it only posted my quote. Did you have a commment or question.

By the way. I think you mispelled Dealership in your original post.

Although I do not earn my living at a Dealership, many on this forum do and 99% of these Dealerships provide a valuable service to their customers and do so very honestly.

Thanx !!! So much but I pretty much wanted to stay OEM. I'm really not too worried about the milage thing because "believe it or not "

I bought this truck 3 weeks ago with " 17 " miles on it An older gent with tons of dough - ordered it and drove ot home from the dealer and put it in a garage. He bought a 2002 Vette shortly after so I guess he lost interest in the Silv. He up in years now and he's downsizing to 4

cars. By the way his daughter is driving the vette with 2800 miles on it

Thanx!! Again

Wow, an '01 with 17 miles. This is great.

If you decide to look into the interceptor, you could do what I did. I bought an A pillar plastic cover from a salvage yard for $10.00. This let me keep my OE cover without any holes in it. If I get ready to sell the truck, I can remove the gauge in 10 minutes and have the orginal cover back on the A pillar.

Good luck with your "new" truck.
